Bullion is the most straightforward category of precious metal purchases: the value is almost entirely the current market price for the metal, applied to the verified weight and purity. What separates offers is the percentage of spot price we apply, which depends on the brand, condition, quantity, and our current inventory.

Austin-area investors holding PAMP Suisse, Credit Suisse, Engelhard, and similar recognized refinery products receive competitive offers reflecting that liquidity. Generic private mint products are purchased at slightly lower percentages to reflect the extra authentication work and the smaller secondary market. Either way, we apply live spot pricing and show you the math in writing before you commit to selling.

Why Brand Matters for Bullion Pricing

Not all bullion trades at the same percentage of spot. Recognized refineries command better offers because their products are easier to authenticate, more liquid in the secondary market, and accepted by dealers worldwide without additional testing.

PAMP Suisse is the most recognized name globally. A sealed PAMP Fortuna gold bar with intact assay card can be resold to virtually any dealer in the world without question. Engelhard silver bars from the 1970s and 1980s have a dedicated collector following and trade at premiums above spot independent of their silver content.

Generic private mint products, meaning bars with no recognized refinery name or bars from obscure mints, require more thorough authentication and have a smaller resale market. We purchase them but at slightly lower percentages of spot. The brand premium you paid when buying rarely recovers fully when selling, which is a reality worth understanding before making bullion purchases.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, modestly. PAMP Suisse bars in sealed original packaging with intact assay certificates are the most liquid gold bars in the world. That liquidity translates into a slightly better offer compared to an unmarked bar from an unknown private mint. The difference is typically 1 to 3 percent. For large quantities, that can be meaningful. Generic rounds and private mint bars without recognized branding receive standard spot-based offers with no brand premium.

For most common PAMP, Credit Suisse, and Valcambi bars, the assay card adds modest value because it supports easy resale without re-assaying. A 1 oz PAMP Fortuna bar in an intact sealed assay card is easier to resell than one without. If you have bars where the assay card has been opened or is missing, they are still purchased at full melt value. The card affects a small premium, not the base metal price.

We verify bars using a combination of weight measurement, dimensional checking, visual hallmark examination, and when appropriate, electronic testing including XRF verification for unusual items or very large purchases. Known fake patterns exist for certain popular bar types, and we check for these. Bars with unverifiable markings or suspicious weight are tested thoroughly before we make an offer.

100 oz silver bars are among our most common large-format purchases. Recognized brands including Engelhard, Johnson Matthey, NWT, Sunshine, OPM, and Asahi receive strong offers. Generic 100 oz bars are purchased at a smaller percentage of spot than recognized brands. We typically pay 92 to 97 percent of spot value on recognized-brand 100 oz bars depending on quantity.

Yes. Platinum and palladium bars and coins from recognized refineries are purchased at competitive percentages of current spot. Both metals have active markets but lower trading volumes than gold and silver. Call ahead for current platinum and palladium buying prices before making the trip, as these metals can have wider bid-ask spreads than gold and silver.

For recognized-brand gold bars (PAMP, Credit Suisse, Valcambi, Engelhard) in good condition, we typically offer 96 to 98 percent of spot. Larger quantities receive higher percentages. Generic or private mint gold bars receive slightly lower percentages to account for the additional authentication work and reduced liquidity in the secondary market. Current percentages depend on the metal market and our current inventory levels.
